Our group focuses on the multiscale modeling of materials behavior with a strong emphasis on inelastic and non-equilibrium processes. Our areas of interest include modeling of plasticity in the large deformation setting, wave propagation in metamaterials, rapid phase transformations and ductile failure. We are exploring these processes with a highly interdisciplinary perspective that combines applied mathematics, statistical physics and high performance computing.

We are located in the Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics Department at UPenn, within the Penn Institute for Computational Science.
